Day 94: 10 songs about dentists or doctors

So I guess no one actually likes going to a dentist or doctor, or do you? At least I know I’m not a big fan. Unfortunately for me, I was unlucky today. While eating my lunch I noticed tooth fillings got broken. So in the afternoon I had an emergency appointment to have it fixed. While laying in the chair at the dentist I got thinking if there are any songs about going to the dentist, or are somehow related to dentist. Besides some Dutch songs, and Dr Alban, I could not think of any. Off course I could include a lot of tracks by Jon the Dentist but maybe that would be a bit monotonous. Therefore I also included doctors to get to a few more songs.

10. Miles Davis – Prayer (Oh Doctor Jesus)

Almost double points for this one. Doctor in the title, and while browing info to create this list, I found out that Miles Davis’ father was a dentist.

9. Armand Van Helden – Witch Doktor

Decent house classic from 1994.

8. Jon The Dentist – The Real World

I tried to find out why Jon the Dentist is called Jon the Dentist. But I did not find the answer. But just because of his name he scores a double entry in today’s list.

7. Jon the Dentist vs Ollie Jaye – Feel so good

Another Jon the Dentist entry. This time on Tidy Trax, one of my favorite record labels.

6. Weird Al Yankovic – Like A Surgeon

Weird Al was pretty famous in the 80s with his parody songs.

5. Bonnie St. Claire & Ron Brandsteder – Dokter Bernhard

Part of Dutch musical history 😉

4. Dr Alban – Hello Africa

At the age of 23 Alban Uzoma Nwapa travelled from Nigeria to Sweden to study dentistry. To finance his studies he became a DJ and sing over the records. This lead to an impressive musical career as Dr Alban.

3. Gloria Estefan – Dr. Beat

Another 80s classic. Emergency, Dr Beat 🙂

2. Kool Moe Dee – Go see the doctor

Old school hiphop.

1. Peter de Koning – Het is altijd lente in de ogen van de tandartsassistente

By far the worst song I mentioned in any Top10 so far. The title literally translates as: it is always spring in the eys of the dentist assistant.
