Today I noticed on Facebook that my local Lego rental company had the Star Wars UCS AT AT available for rent. For a few weeks I already had thoughts about getting another Lego set. Although it can take a shitload of time, for me it is also very calming and meditative in a sort of way. Something a can use in these hectic days. Therefore I did not think very long, booked the set and picked it up this afternoon. Looking around in the shop I noticed so many other cool sets. So this got me thinking what other sets are on my ‘to build’ list? Not an easy question, I could easily make this a top25. To prevent the list from being a Star Wars only list, I limited the number of SW sets on the list to 5. And while typing this I think I can do a SW only and a non SW list at a later time. Kaboom, 2 more lists planned.
10. 21335 Motorised Lighthouse
Close to the camping where I stay in summer, there is an actual lighthouse. The lighthouse of Cap Frehel. A couple of years ago I had the idea of building this lighthouse from Lego. So far it did not happen, but this Lego set might be a good way of getting some inspiration and ideas to make it happen somewhere in the future.
9. 10303 Loop Coaster
We had great fun building the older Coaster. This one is bigger and has loopings so it must be even more fun.
8. 76405 Hogwarts Express™ – Collectors’ Edition
Not a big Harry Potter fan, but if this one can be compared with the Crocodile Locomotive it must be good.
7. 10294 Titanic
Currently the 3rd largest set available. Might need some extra space as well when building this, but it looks absolutely stunning.
6. 21323 Piano
An actual working piano, how cool is that!
5. 75095: TIE Fighter
This one looks stunning on display, don’t you think? Unlike most of the other Star Wars set that will follow in this list, it is still available.
4. 75059: Sandcrawler
Need more brown in your Lego collection? Pick this one. Not available for sale anymore, but it is available for rent.
3. 10212: Imperial Shuttle
Just looking at this set I can hear the Imperial March. Another discontinued set
2. 10129: Rebel Snowspeeder
Not a very big set, but the smaller sets can be fun as well. But finding one to build can be a challenge since this is a set which got release in 2003 and was discontinued in 2005.
1. 10030: Imperial Star Destroyer
Easy choice! Since I have already built the UCS Millenium Falcon and are currently building the AT AT, there is only this one left. My girlfiend thinks it might be a bit boring because of all the grey parts. But just like the Falcon there is so much detail in this one it is an absolute must build. Looking at the current ‘for sale’ prices this 2003 set would have been a good investment.
