Day 33: La Chandeleur

Today the French are celebrating La Chandeleur. According to Christian traditions crêpes (pancakes) were provided to the pilgrims who returned from Rome. According to pagan traditions the crêpe is a symbol for the sun and the return of Spring. As a Francophile I love a crêpe every now and then, so today a list of my favorite crêpes.

10. Crêpe Jus de Citron Frais

Just like the butter & sugar crêpe, but with an extra touch of lemon.

9. Crêpe Normande

Crêpe with sliced appled caramelized in Calvados liquer.

8. Crêpe au Miel

Crêpe with honey.

7. Crêpe la Martiniquaise

Crêpe with banana & coco, flambéed with rum.

6. Crêpe beurre sucre

The most traditional of them all. Just a crêpe with some butter & sugar.

5. Crêpe caramel beurre salé

This is the favorite of my girlfriend. Crêpe with salted caramel.

4. Crêpe fraise chantilly

Crêpe with fresh strawberries and whipped .

3. Crêpe Dame Blanche

Combining a crêpe with my favorite dessert. Winner!

2. Crêpe chocolat

Crêpe with chocolate sprinkles.

1. Crêpe Nutella

Crêpe Nutella. Every time when we go to a local market in France, I feel the urgent need to either grab a crêpe chocolat or a crêpe Nutella at the local crêperie foodtruck. Quality is always good and for around € 1,30 you have a very delicious treat.
