Day 32: 10 things to bring to a deserted island

Apparently today it is Robinson Crusoe Day. I have read Daniel Defoe’s book several times when I was young. And for the past couple of years we have never missed a season of (Expedition) Robinson. This got me wandering what I would take with me to a deserted island. Here’s my list.

10. Samsung tablet

To prevent myself from starting to talk to a football, I do need some distraction. Mostly to play music, but I might want to watch some movies or series at some point. Therefore I will add a 2TB memory card packed with music and movies/series.

9. Portable speakers

To listren to the music I’m bringinh my JBL Clip3 speakers. Initially thought about my noisecancelling headphones, but it might be wise to hear if there are any scary animals around.

8. Solar charged powerbank

To charge my tablet and speakers I need a solar charged powerbank. So I hope I will be at a sunny deserted island.

7. Tooth brush and tooth paste

On Robinson I see people brushing their teeth with charcoal. I’ll just bring a tooth brush.

6. Cloths

I might run around butt naked on my island, but a decent set of cloths for all kind of wheather would be great.

5. Soap & laundry detergents

Need to wash both myself and my cloths off course.

4. Lighter

Ever seen everyone messing around with flints on Robinson? And how hard it is to make a decent fire? Therefore I’ll just bring a lighter.

3. Knive

I have no knowledge about knives at all, but the Fällkniven A1 Pro seems like a decent knive to survive.

2. Mosquite net

Just to prevent myself to be eaten by insects or other animals at night.

1. SAS Survival Guide

Might be better to read this before I leave, but hey, got to take some risks in life. So I hope to survive the first couple of days based on my own skills. After fulfilling basic needs liked shelter and food I’m sure I will have plenty of time to read this reference guide and improve my survival skills.
