Just checked the calendar and apprently today it’s Escape Day. I have tried hitting the Escape button on my keyboard several times, but I’m still stuck behind my keyboard. Since we would love to escape for some time, today I present a list of places we would love to escape to. Some places might be familiar because I mentioned them in other blogs. Others are totally new for us as well. Want to know more about any of these destinations, please do not hesitate to contact me.
10. Koh Lanta, Thailand
One thing that all entries in this Top10 have in common is a beach. For this entry I have chosen Koh Lanta to escape to. Not as small as some of the other islands in this list. Therefore there is a bit more to do, ride around on a motorscooter for example. When we did so we took the picture below.
9. Mirissa, Sri Lanka
In 2019 my parents were married for 50 years. To celibrate it they invited us for a trip to Sri Lanka. During the trip we visited several places, but finished with a couple of days in Mirissa. Would not mind to go back there again.
8. Pleherel Plage, France
As mentioned before, my holiday during summer for the past 33 years. Only an 8 hours drive and we are there.
7. Koh Jum, Thailand
Tiny little island, not very much to do. Just enjoy the sun, the beach, and doing nothing.
6. Koh Mook, Thailand
Just a little bit bigger than Koh Jum, a little bit more to do. But to find your inner peace an island without cars. The only form of transport on the island are motorbikes, some of them with sidecar.
5. Koh Samet, Thailand
Final place in this list where we have actually been ourselves. In 2017 the weather was not that great at Koh Lanta. When we were looking at the weather reports there were two places were the weather was good, one of them was Koh Samet. When we were dropped on the beach we were a little bit afraid, but when we later found this place, we were really happy. Hidden away but in walking distance from the bigger beach we found Ao Nuan Bungalows. Peacefull, quiet, friendly etc. We definately want to go back here at some point.
4. Bali, Indonesia
Favorite holiday of my parents for some years. From what we have heard similar to Thailand with friendly people, good weather and great food. Seems like a good place to escape. My best mate spent the past two weeks on Bali, so based on the huge amount of pictures he sent I got a pretty good impression.
3. Zihuatanejo, Mexico
Just some travel advise I got from a very wise old man. He looked forward to visiting this place for a long time. And once you get the clue, you might read this while hearing his voice…
2. Koh wai, Thailand
One of the smaller islands close to Koh Chang, but according from what I have heard this must be a great destination. Not that many tourists yet, small, not much to do, so it sounds like a perfect place to escape to.
1. Maldives
I guess we all sometimes drift away while we see pictures of the bluest water we have ever seen. I could escape for a very long time in oner of these water villas.
I think your number one might turn out in a disappointment once you get there. Although I agree, pictures of the Maledives always attract, the villas, the water.
