Happy International Lego Day! If you are a regular reader of my blog, you already find out that I am a Lego fan. So over the year you can expect some more Lego realated lists. Today I am sharing a list of my favories when I was growing up. I still have everything and at some point I really would like to build everything again. For now, let’s just have a look at today’s list.
10. Lego 162 Locomotive (1977)
Not my first Lego set, but I definately played a lot with this locomotive. I had lots of these blue train rails with it as well.
9. Lego 7740-1 Inter-City Passenger Train (1980)
This is the only item in this list I do not own. My nieces had this one. When we visited them we played a lot with this one together. I also remember I once borrowed it and built it up at home. This train actually had a 12v motor.
8. Lego 8845 Dune Buggy (1981)
Not the first Technic set I had, but the first one in this list. Don’t you love roll bars on this buggy?
7. Lego 851 Red Tractor (1977)
I got this one as a present for passing my swim diploma A. There might still be some actual footage from me passing the test and getting the present. This is actually my first Technic set although it was not labeled as Technic at that time.
6. Lego Fork Lift (1979)
Another present, this time for swimming diploma B.
5. Lego 107 4.5V Motor Set (1976)
What is cooler than a Lego train? A Lego train with a motor engine. I used this one to power up the 162 Locomotive as well as many other ‘things’ I built at that time.
4. Lego 8851 Excavator (1984)
When I look at the image now, it is a lot smaller than in my memory. Pretty cool machine with the pneumatic parts. This might be one of the last sets I got before entering the dark ages.
3. Lego 453 Crater Plates (1979)
Save the best for last, the Lego Space series. I used to have a lot from this series. To make it extra cool I got these crater plates so I could play around on my own little planet.
2. Lego 924 Space Cruiser (1979)
When I look at the picture I still love the Space logo. Still need to get a T-shirt with that (yes, bit geeky, I know).
1. Lego 497 Galaxy Explorer (1979)
A little bit bigger than the Space Cruiser, 318 parts in total. Is this cool or not? I think it is! In 2022 Lego release an updated version of this one, even bigger, 1219 parts. That one is on my ‘to build’ list with I also might share at some time.
