So, yesterday’s blog brought some reactions on Facebook. It seems that my small group of readers also likes the musical Top 10’s. And since I’m a people pleaser I do everything for my audience. So today I bring you some more musical memories. Since I don’t want to run out of the 80’s, today I take you back to the year 2001.
From around half 2000 till I think October 2001 I lived in Amsterdam. So I only lived there for about a year, but it was a good year. In December 2000 I got my first company car, so in 2001 I made a lot of roadtrips. And in October I bought my apprtement in Koog aan de Zaan. So a year with lots of memories.
Musically it was also a year with lots of changes. While before I was mostly listening to ambient and progressive, in 2001 I moved it bit more to the trancy side of music. Mainly because I spent most friday nights with a friend/coleague in the Arena (the club, not the stadium). In addition I went to the famous Impulz parties and went to Dance Valley for the first time. So musically I made lots of great memories too.
10. Alizée – Moi Lolita
A big hit in both the Netherlands in France. And since I went to France 3 times this year, I heard this quite a lot.
9. Atomic Kitten – Whole again
Such a catchy song. A big hit in Holland, but not in France. I remember I came back from one of my roadtrips, and this was on the radio when I drived into Amsterdam.
8. Barthezz – On The Move
7. Mauro Picotto – Komodo
6. Volts Wagen – No Sleep
I remember JP playing this at Impulz Indoor.
5. Faithless – We come 1
4. Daft Punk – One more time
Heard this one so many times in The Arena. (Together with the other songs where I did not put any comments).
3. Monoboy Feat. Delores – The Music In You
Ferry Corsten played this one at Dance Valley. Not sure how I found out the title, but soon after I bought this on vinyl.
2. Sylver – Turn the tide
Yes, I admit, it’s cheesy, but I’m just lovin’ it. Love that vocal.
1. Lasgo – Something
Somewhere during the year I got my own company car (at the end of 2000 I got a temp short lease). As soon as I got this car I put 300w speakers in it. And one of the first mp3 car stereos, which costed me a fortune. I played this car so many times. Specifically this remix. The whole car was bouncing. Still use it as a speaker test occasionally. Would love to hear this at a big stage.
