Day 313: Kick Off Record Fair

This weekend the world’s biggest record fair is taking place again in the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch. Good location, especially since I made some great party memories there. I loved the Impulz Indoor parties. The record fair will be filled by records dealers from all over the world and uses a space of 16000 square metres. That is huge. A bit too huge for me, so I’ll skip this one.

But today there was a little smaller record fair which marked the kick off for the bigger record fair on Saturday and Sunday. And it was at the Vredenburg square in Utrecht. Not that Den Bosch is too far, but Utrecht is still closer. And a lot smaller. About 60 stalls or so.

So this morning I went to have a look. Off course I scored some nice records. And the funny thing is that I scored exactly 10 records. So to keep things simple, today’s Top 10 marks the 10 records I bought today. Discogs links behind the title, Youtube link after you click on the image.

1. Kai Tracid – Liquid Skies

I know Kai Tracid for a long long time. But this one I actually discovered through Natasja since it was in one of her trance playlist.

2. One Tribe Featuring Gem – Is This All

An absolutely stunning classic from 1991, my early clubbing days. Nice to be able to add this to the collection.

3. Various – Too House To Handle

Great story to this one. In 1990 I was on holiday in Egond with my mate Martijn. We spent a lot of our evenings in the local club Club 82. On one evening there was a sort of contest. I had to sing along with one of the songs on this album. After that I won the CD version which I have lost or misplaced somewhere. Today I found the album on vinyl, so this brings back this great memory. Too bad the best track from the CD Technotronic’s Pump Up The Jam, is not on the vinyl. Off course I cannot add links to all tracks, but if you click on the album cover, you will find out to which track I had to sing along.

4. Double Trouble & The Rebel MC – Just Keep Rockin’

From 1991 we go a little step further back in time. On to 1989, a time were hiphouse music was very popular. This one still does the trick with me. Same for the next one in this list.

5. Double Trouble & The Rebel MC – Street Tuff

6. Way Out West Featuring Tricia Lee Kelshall – Mindcircus

Superb (progressive) trance classic that featured in many mixes and compilations.

7. Adventures Of Stevie V – Dirty Cash (Money Talks)

I found the original not that long ago. This version contains David Morales remixes.

8. Farley “Jackmaster” Funk & Jessie Saunders – Love Can’t Turn Around

1986 Chicago House Classic!

9. Hithouse – Jack To The Sound Of The Underground

One of the first house records of Dutch producer Peter Slaghuis. Unfortunately he had a very short career since he died in a car accident in 1991.

10. Jam & Spoon Featuring Plavka – Find Me (Odyssey To Anyoona)

Finishing today’s list with a a track by German legends Jam & Spoon.
