Natas went early to bed tonight. So I had plans to do a Top 10 of tracks about sleeping. Already made up a text in my mind and a shortlist of songs. Too bad to find out I already did a Top 10 about sleeping earlier. But nice that my mind came up with some songs that were not in the initial sleeping list.
But overboard with the sleeping list. Did I finish the 80’s yet? Nope, still a few years to go. For today I’m picking 1985. A year where Africa was still suffering. In The Netherlands the famous Eleven Cities Skate Tour took place for the first time since 1963. Pope John Paul 2nd visited the Netherlands, and I made lots of muiscal memories.
1. A-Ha – Take On Me
The absolote number one in a lot of 80s lists.
2. Paul Hardcastle – 19
3. Philip Bailey & Phil Collins – Easy Lover
4. Sister Sledge – Frankie
5. Five Star – All Fall Down
6. David Bowie & Mick Jagger – Dancing In The Street
7. USA For Africa – We Are The World
Damn, what a line-up. Funny to now see people I did not really know at the time. Like Steve Perry from Journey.
8. Band Aid – Do they know it’s christmas
The sort of British version of USA for Africa. Or the other way around since Band Air was a bit earlier than USA for Africa if I’m correct.
