In yesterday’s blog I mentioned my favorite pop/rock songs from the year 1992. The planning for today was to share my favorite electronic from the same year. But I chnaged my mind, and bended the non existing rules.
Since I started a DJ course recently I am diving deeper and deeper in my vinyl collection. Just a few promo’s and white labels to do, and I have added every item in Discogs. But since most is already added, it is very easy to search in the collection. So today, I am sharing favorites from 1992 that I actually have in my own collection. And off course this also gives me the opportunity to do a 3rd list from 1992, with great tracks from that year that I do not own myself.
And since the Orb released their UF Orb album, some singles and remixes in the year 1992, I could easily make it an Orb only list. But I did not, I only added one Orb track to the list. But to compensate it is a track from almost 40 minutes.
1. The Orb – Blue Room
OK, let’s kick off with The Orb’s Blue Room. In 1992 the maximum length of a single was 40 minutes. The Orb are well known for pushing boundaries and traditional song structure and therefore created this 39m58s masterpiece.
2. Sequencial – Psychotronic (Long demon mix)
As I mentioned in earlier blogs, I spent quite some clubbing time in De Waakzaamheid. This track was a huge hit at the time. Some years later I met one of the producers of this track on holiday in France. Had some great moments with this guy. He was also the producer of Gabbertje. But in the end he ripped off all other guys involved in Hakkuhbar, and disappeared.
3. KCC feat. Emile – Groove Thing (Pucci Mix)
Most of the time when I am practising my DJ skills I choose for hardhouse or hardtrance. More BPM, so easier to mix. Yesterday I tried mixing with some of the older stuff in my collection. This was one of the tracks I played yesterday.
4. Mr Fingers – On A Corner Called Jazz (E-Smoove’s Jazzy Dub)
Mr Fingers aka Larry Heard is one of the true pioneers from Chicago.
5. Electrotete – I Love You (The Deeper The Deeper)
6. Black Machine – How Gee (Sax Mix)
Another Waakzaamheid classic.
7. Derrick Jamerson – Got To Give It Up (Underground Resistance Mix)
No active recollection about this track, but I like it.
8. U-N-I (You And I) – Don’t Hold Back The Feeling (Small Club Mix)
9. Chestnut – Pot Of Gold (Original Mix)
Imagine yourself a rainbow…
