OK, I already hinted to this list last week, so let’s do it. I created a list of songs that are not done at a funeral earlier. But off course at a funeral I always think what I would like to have played at my funeral. So I gave it some serious thoughts.
And I hope I will survive all my readers, so no one actually will be around to attend my funeral. The list needs to be narrowed down as well. I know there will not be enough time to play all this. As you all know meanwhile I am a big Orb fan, and they have quite a few lengthy tracks and remixes. The total time off this list is already 83m42s.
How funny would it to have an extended ceremony and have all these songs played. Would people be annoyed? We will never know. Anyway, here are my funeral tracks for the moment. I’m sure the list will be changed overtime, since I’m planning to live at least another 40 years.
1. The Orb – Spanish Castles In Space
This is one of my favorite Orb tracks ever. Just closed your eyes and fade away.
2. Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here
Bit of a mindfuck, since I would like to be at my own funeral.
3. Manau – Le Chien Du Forgeron
La Tribu de Dana might be a bit too happy at a funeral, so I chose this track from Breton hiphop group Manau.
4. Diggy Dex & JW Roy – Treur Niet (Ode Aan Het Leven)
If your Dutch, no further explanation needed.
5. Pink Floyd – Shine On Your Crazy Diamond
Listened to this one so many times, and sometimes I’m still hearing things I never heard before.
6. Boudewijn de Groot – Verdronken Vlinder
Not mentioned before, I am a big fan of Boudewijn de Groot, and I am suddenly realizing that Diggy Dex is a modern version of Boudewijn.
7. Transit Kings – The Last Lighthouse Keeper (Orb Remix)
Brilliant Orb remix. Love the conversation in this one. Little detail, just near our camping in France, there is the Lighthouse of Cap Frehel.
8. Keiichi Suzuki – Satellite Serenade [The Orb’s Trans Asian Express Mix]
Still doubting if this one, or nr 10 is my favorite Orb remix. Anyway, they are both funeral worthy in my opinion.
9. Proteus – Haven
No trance in the funeral list so far. All the songs from my Valentine trance special would do, since they are all about love in some way. For now I think Haven would do best at a funeral.
10. Paradise X – 2 Much (Start & Depart To Paradise mix by The Orb)
