In The Netherlands today is Pink Saturday. A day of celebration for the LHBTI+ community. While the Gay Pride that takes places in the first weekend of August is more about party and extravaganza, on Pink Saturday there is also room for education, debate, and visability regarding sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.
So, what am I going to do with this topic? Well, music off course. Each year after the gay pride Hitzound makes a list with music. The Homo Top 100. Not sure if the name of the list is woke enough these days… Anyway, in celebration of Pink Saturday I just pick my 10 favorites from this list. Enjoy!
10. Vanessa – Upside down
9. Queen – Don’t stop me now
8. Army of lovers – Crucified
7. Alcazar – Crying at the discotheque
6. Shirley Bassey – This is my life
5. Bronski Beat – Smalltown boy
4. Donna Summer – I feel love
Off course the Patrick Cowley megamix.
3. ABBA – Gimme gimme gimme
2. Anita Meyer – Why tell me why
I admit, this song gets an occasional rotation.
1. The Gossip – Heavy Cross
Love this one, play this really loud!
