Day 166: Ice Ice Baby

Today we went out for a drive and some shopping. On the way back we decided to drive to Saint Cast and get some nice ice cream. And if there is one type of food that make me really happy, it is ice cream. In one of my earliest blogs I already spoke about my favorites.

The ice cream we had today was exceptionally good. I think they will see as back really soon. And off course this got me thinking about my favorite ice-cream parlours. So I made up a list of my favorites. But today I need your help as well. I can only think of 7 favorite ice-cream parlours. So to complete this list I need some input. So where do I need to go and get some ice cream?

7. IJssalon Verdonk, Heemskerk, Netherlands

I used to go there with my parents when I was a kid. Banana and pistache were my favorite flavors.

6. Les Merveilleuses, Sables d’Or les Pins, France

Great shop to drop by and have some ice on their terrace. They also have great crepes and galettes.

5. Gelateria Carino Kos, Kos, Greece

9 years ago when my parents were married for 45 years they took us on a trip to Kos. When we took a bike ride from our appartement to the city we came by this shop. Since it is 9 years ago and we are still talking about it, it must be good.

4. IJssalon Roma, Utrecht, Netherlands

Let’s take it a little bit closer to home. This shop also has great ice creams in lots of different flavours that change frequently.

3. Van der Linde, Amsterdam, Netherlands

This confectionery is open since 1936. They have only one sort of ice cream, and that whipped cream ice. I cannot go to Amsterdam without visiting van der Linde. Besides ice they also have great whipped cream truffles.

2. Roberto Gelato, Utrecht, Netherlands

Another one close to home. My absolute favorite in the Netherlands. Roberto has won the world championship of ice making in 2019. Great flavours, great variety, and something special, they have special ice cream for dogs.

1. Chez Tinou, Saint Cast Le Guildo, France

We have been here before, but I did not remember it was that good. I had some tiramisu and breton cookies ice cream with whipped cream. Absolutely brilliant. Natasja had strawberry, kardemom and basil ice which she thought was fantastic. Or formidable as the French would say. We will definately go back there soon.
