Day 136: The Oscar Awards

So, our pied a terre in France is set up and I’m writing this blog in the awning of our caravan. Network coverage is not that great, but later this week I will be getting a local simcard for the 4G router. A must need especially with a triple Formula 1 weekender ahead.

Back to the blog. Before we left home I already had a look if there are any special days today. And indeed there are. It is the 75th birthday of ambient guru Brian Eno. But although I do know some of his work, I know not enough to make a Top10 list.

But pn this dat in 1929 it was the first time that the Oscar awards were organized. So let’s do a list about movies that won the most Oscar awards. Here we go.

  1. Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) 11 wins (11 nominations)
  2. Titanic (1997) 11 wins (14 nominations)
  3. Ben-Hur (1959) 11 wins (12 nominations)
  4. West Side Story (1961) 10 wins (11 nominations)
  5. Gigi (1958) 9 wins (9 nominations)
  6. The Last Emperor (1987) 9 wins (9 nominations)
  7. The English Patient (1996) 9 wins (12 nominations)
  8. Slumdog Millionaire (2008) 8 wins (10 nominations)
  9. Gandhi (1982) 8 wins (11 nominations)
  10. Amadeus (1984) 8 wins (11 nominations)

I think I actually have seen half of the list, so I might want to watrch some of these titles at some time.
