Day 126: World Naked Gardening Day

Today is the first Saturday in May, and some of you might already know what that means. Today is World Naked Gardening Day. It is an international event that celebrates gardening in the nude and aims to promote body acceptance and environmental awareness. The idea behind the event is that gardening in the nude helps to connect people with nature and promotes a sense of freedom and joy.

Participants in World Naked Gardening Day are encouraged to garden in the nude, but the event is not about being sexually provocative or explicit. Rather, it is about celebrating the human body in a natural and non-sexualized way. Overall, World Naked Gardening Day is a fun and lighthearted way to promote body positivity and environmental awareness.

This day got me a bit curious to find out if there are any other ‘activity’ days with naked participation. So I did some research and below are 10 naked activities. Most are them are a few steps to far for me. Besides some skinnydipping on holiday and an occassional sauna visit I’m not walking around naked that much. While I can understand the concept of Naked Gardening, I cannot imagine myself participating in some of the other events.

Anyway, enjoy today, and don’t forget the sunscreen 😉

5. Burning Man

An annual event held in the Nevada desert, which attracts tens of thousands of people to create a temporary city based on radical self-expression and self-reliance. Burning Man is definately on my bucket list, but I think I’ll skip being nude. Next Burning Man is planned August 27 till September 4th.

6. World Naked Hiking Day

Typically held in June, a day of hiking in the nude to promote body positivity and celebrate nature. An annual event held on June 21st (Solstice).

7. International Bodypainting Festival

The International Bodypainting Festival is an annual festival held in Austria that brings together artists and models to showcase creative body art. The festival takes place in September. Check their website for more info or just to see some amazing artwork.

8. Nude Olympics

An annual event in Australia, which includes naked events such as sprinting, swimming, and beach volleyball. Unfortunately I cannot find actual dates for this event.

9. Naked Sledding World Championship

The Braunlage Nude Sledging World Championship (German: Braunlage Nackt Rodeln Weltmeisterschaft) was held between 2009 and 2012 in February in the city of Braunlage, Germany.

10. Naked Yoga Day

A day celebrated around the world where participants can attend yoga classes in the nude to promote body positivity and self-love. Mmmm, I would very uncomfortable to be nude in some yoga positions, but that’s just me. Again, I cannot find an actual date for this.
