Eralier this week I found out that today is the day of the Finnish Language. Well, if I have to tell something about the Finnish language, this will be a short blog. Both reading and hearing seems like Chinese to me. So let’s give this topic a twist and merge into a list of favorite people from Finland.
10. Linus Torvalds
The creator of the Linux operating system. I don’t have any experience with it, but it made quite some impact on the industry.
9. Pihla Viitala (Karppi)
Pihla plays the main character Sofia Karppi in the succesful Netflix series.
8. Otto Yliperttula (Yotto)
Sometimes I am a bit lost in the music genres, is it deep house? Is it progressive trance? Is it melodic techno? Anyway, I like it.
7. Mika Häkkinen
The Flying Finn, double World Champion in Formula 1 (1998 and 1999). Unfortunately Formula One Management does not like it when I embed video’s with their content, so you’ll have to do it with this video from Top Gear. Or click here, or here.
6. Jari Litmanen
These days I don’t like football at all, but I long time ago I did watch an occasional game. It was in the succesfull years whwn he played for Ajax.
5. Toni-Ville Henrik Virtanen (Darude)
I am actually not aware of any of his other tracks besides Sandstorm, but what a lendary record is that.
4. Kimi Räikkönen
Another Formula One legend. And what a character.
3. Miika Eloranta & Janne Mansnerus (Super8 & Tab)
Not a duo that I follow very actively, but certainly names that drop by often in the various Trance radioshows I listed to. Please find below their great live set from Luminosity Festival last year.
2. Tapio Hakanen (Orkidea)
On with another trance legend. And again a name I hear very often since Tapio’s tracks get quite some attention in Solarstone’s Pure Trance Radioshow. In addition Tapio also mixed the first Pure Trance Progressive album whic is absolutely stunning.
1. Harri Andersson (Proteus)
And to number one. And to be honest the only one I met in real life. And not only met, partied with in multiple countries, drove around in Holland for a gig and had lots of fun with. Not a big fan anymore which Harri played 20 years ago. I’m just getting old and moves to some softer music. But Harri moved on as well and produces really great trance music these days. Hope there will an album sometime soon Harri!.
