Day 98: favorites from 1984

Day 98 already, two more days I have done 100 posts in a row. Sometimes I’m still surprised I’m keeping up with it. I’m already working on a nice special for the 100st post. Today I’m just keeping it simple again. I’m still happy I noticed the date yesterday, so I’m continuing with that system. 8/4 = 84, so my favorites from 1984.

10. Murray Head – One Night In Bangkok

At the time just a funny song, but meanwhile I had more than a few (great) nights in Bangkok.

9. Phil Collins – Against All Odds (Take a Look At Me Now)

I know I have seen the movie as well, but I seem to have no active memory to it. This titelsong did stick in my mind.

8. Kenny Loggins – Footloose

Another movie titelsong. Looking at the videoclip I totally forgot that Kevin Bacon played in the movie.

7. Jermaine Jackson – Do What You Do

Still have this one on 7″single 🙂

6. Limahl – NeverEnding Story

This seems to become a movie soundtrack list, cause there is another one coming as well. But maybe these songs got stuck because the movies made such impressions.

5. Bruce Springsteen – Dancing In The Dark

Could have also been Born in the USA since they both came out in 1984. The clip stars a young Courteney Cox. The performance in this clip started her career. Although she is less happy with her performance.

4. Stevie Wonder – I Just Called To Say I Love You

Sorry, I can’t sing this song without shaking my head like Stevie does.

3. Deniece Williams – Let’s hear it for the boy

Just a real happy song in that period. And while looking up the video I found out this track was also in the soundtrack of Footloose.

2. Harold Faltermeyer – Axel F

Yep, from the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack.

1. Bronski Beat – Smalltown Boy

I was a bit too young to pick up the message from this song. At the time just a great song, but over the years it got better and better. It’s actually real sad that homophobia is still around these days.
