Day 96: Favorite ‘hollywood ‘cars

Let’s do another list of cars. And this time I’ll pick my favorite Hollywood cars. And by that I mean cars well known from movies or TV series. Yesterday I shared a list of favorite 80s movies. One of the movies I mentioned yesterday is Ferris Buellers Day Off. And if you know that movie, you know there is a great classic Ferrari in that movie. So one list leads to another. A lot of cars in movies are American muscle cars. Since I’m from Holland my list has some more European influences, although some cars cannot be missed, even if they are American.

10. 1963 Volkswagen Beetle (The Love Bug 1968)

The movie The Love Bug might not trigger anything yet, but when I say Herbie I might ring some bells. Between 1968 and 1980 there were 4 movies made starring Herbie. So during my youth there were regularly on TV. In 1997 and 2005 newer movies with the theme were made.

Scenes from Herbie Rides Again (1974)

9. 1967 Ford Mustang GT500 (Gone in 60 Seconds 2000)

Like mentioned in my intro, some American cars just cannot be bypasses, Eleanor is certainly one of them.

8. 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder (Ferris Buellers Day Off 1986)

Not a big fan of the modern Ferrari’s, but the classics, mjam.

7. 1969 Dodge Charger (The Dukes of Hazzard 1979-1985)

Off course I wanted to be one of the Duke Brothers when I was a kid.

6. Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 (Bad Boys)

Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?

5. 1982-1984 Pontiac Trans Am (Knight Rider 1982-1986)

Yep, who did not want to have a car like KITT?

4. Audi S8 (Ronin 1998)

If you are a regular reader you might have expected an Audi RS6 in the list. But despite the scene in Layer Cake I don’t know that much apperances of an RS6 in movie or TV. But this S8 brings some good memories. I bought a new Dolby Surround set somewhere in 2001, and the Ronin DVD was the first movie I played.

3. GMC Vandura Van (The A-Team 1983-1987)

Tatatatatatatatata

2. Aston Martin DB5 (Goldfinger 1964)

One of the most beautiful cars ever made.

1. Peugeot 406 (Taxi 1998)

So over the top, but such a great movie and car. The movie has also a killer soundtrack.
