Day 66: Ten songs not to play at a funeral

Last year I lost some friends and family so I attended more funerals than I wished for. And at a funeral there is always music. A lot of it is standard so when you are getting older and therefore attend more funerals, you hear more of the same music. Although I heard some surprises last year. These funerals off course got me thinking about what music I want to have played when my time has come. So I created a little shortlist. But since I’m planning to stay at least another 30 years on this planet, the list might change overtime.

But from thinking about what to play at a funeral it is a small step to what not to play at a funeral. Music is very personal, so if if a certain piece of music is the wish of the deceased person, it should be possible. But some musical choices might raise some eyebrows. What music is inappropriate, insulting or not done for whatever reason? Here’s my top10 list of songs NOT to play at a funeral. No explanation needed, just let the title or lyrics speak for itself. Enjoy!
