Day 50: 10 Hiphouse favorites

Woohoo, day number 50. I sometimes struggle a bit for inspiration, but so far so good, 50 daily posts, quite an achievement. Yesterday I had the thought of posting a Top10 consisting of 50 related items. But I could only think of a few so I skipped that idea.

So back to what I’m most comfortable with, music. Somewhere in the past 24 hours I hears some hiphouse so let’s make a list of that genre. Do we all remember hiphouse? I guess I first heard it through the Turn up the Bass compilations or while going out arounf 1989. The genre itself started around 1986. It started as a mixture of house and hiphop. Or to be more precise often house music with a rapper added. Later hiphouse evolved in what we later called Eurodance. Anyway, these were my favorites from that period.

10. King Bee – Back By Dope Demand

Not sure where and when I got it, but I still have this on white label 12″.

9. Mr Lee – Get Busy

8. Doug Lazy – Let It Roll

7. Tony Scott – That’s How I’m Living

Tony’s whole album was great, too bad I have lost it.

6. Technotronic Featuring Felly – Pump up the Jam

Not sure but I think I heard this for the first time on the first vacation without my parents. Camping in Egmond aan Zee with two friends. We heard this in the local club. I also won a cd with this track on it.

5. Fast Eddie – Yo Yo Get Funky

4. Double Trouble – Just Keep Rockin’

3. Adventures of Stevie V – Dirty Cash

2. Jungle Brothers – I’ll House You

1. Tyree Cooper – Turn Up the Bass
